Embracing the Chestnut Tree - Grave Steps, 1997
In front of the museum in Kassel stands a mighty chestnut tree. I felt
a desire to go up to it, to embrace it. As if I were reunited with
someone I had lost. On the white marble steps I felt I could share in
the tree's strength, might and constancy, as though embracing someone
who now exists in a different state.
